1912/1913 Replica Teddy Bear by Steiff - 25cm

Steiff

Catalogue number: 403477

The discovery of this red teddy bear was only the second case of a 'missing' bear in Steiff's long history. Steiff archivists have confirmed that this previously unrecorded bear is a unique bear from around 1912-1913 and he features black claws, skillful sculpting and a striking contrast between the red mohair and beige wool felt of his feet. This handsome replica is crafted from a red mohair, especially recreated by Steiff Schulte to emulate the original fabric. His endearing black boot button style eyes are glass and he is stuffed with wood shavings in the traditional way

This replica teddy bear is limited to only 912 pieces and has a period accurate patinated steel underscored "Button in Ear" and ear tag. His modern tag is on his side. He is presented with a numbered certificate in a Steiff gift box with a cardboard outer sleeve.
